with Lau Lapides

Get in the hot seat! Anne & Lau put on their casting director hats as they host live auditions with members of the BOSS community. There is something magical about a live audition…especially when the casting directors switch up the script at the last minute. These auditionees were on their toes, reading cold & nailing it. Anne & Lau share their favorite tips for before the audition & reflect on all that went right (and wrong). Stay tuned to hear who got a callback + will be featured in next week’s episode.

Before the Audition...

Quick-share tips from your hosts:

  1. Don’t read the specs immediately. Record your first few takes & then read the specs. See how aligned you are with those specs.

  2. Be mindful of punctuality because time is of the essence.

  3. Enjoy your live auditions & have fun.

  4. Breathe!

  5. Warm up before the live audition.

  6. Make specific, clear acting choices.

  7. Be ready to switch up your delivery.

  8. Get into your booth early & test out your tech.

  9. Give yourself time to troubleshoot any issues.

  10. Don’t let your stress show.

Anne & Lau's Pointers

Top takeaways from the auditions:

  1. Know the device & program you have to be auditioning on.

  2. Find a buddy or group to test tech out with you before the audition.

  3. Make your client feel like everything is ok.

  4. Once you get the script, start reading it to help your muscle memory.

  5. Casting directors need to hear your emotion & POV, even if it is a cold read.

"Try not to let the tech throw your performance." - Anne
